Are the class costs per class or for the semester?

All group class fees are per semester. Prices vary depending on the class length.

What if I decide to drop a class or start late?

If you decide to drop a class, you have a two-week window to do so. You will be responsible for the insurance/copy fee, and the cost of two weeks of the class. If you begin the session two weeks or more after it starts, we will deduct the cost of two weeks of classes from your total fee.

When are the classes?

Classes are held on Tuesdays at Lighthouse Church in Cedar Lake, Indiana, during the 13-week semester.

Are there concerts?

Yes! Students will participate in a minimum of one concert per class session.

Are private lessons a different cost?

Yes. Lakeside provides a space for private teachers on Tuesdays, offering the convenience of lessons on the same day as your child’s group classes. Lesson fees are paid directly to your private teacher at their designated rate.

How do I schedule private lessons?

If you are interested in private lessons, we can connect you with one of our instructors, and you can schedule a lesson time directly.

Will there be a makeup day if the Academy is canceled for inclement weather

If classes are canceled due to weather, we will not schedule a makeup day because of the set concert date. However, if more than one week is canceled, we will make a good-faith effort to schedule an additional rehearsal for all large ensembles. No refunds will be issued due to weather cancellations.

How will I know if classes are canceled?

We will notify families via the BAND app by noon if classes are canceled. Please monitor BAND to stay up to date.

How do I receive Academy communications?

The Academy uses the BAND app for communication. Please see Jessica Wedge to get connected.

Can adults take Academy classes?

Yes, adults can take our classes. We ask adults to complete a background check to join classes.

Do you offer discounts?

Lakeside Academy purposefully keeps costs low and accessible. We do offer a multi-class discount for families with more than one student attending and taking four or more classes. The discount does not apply to 30-minute classes.

How do I get an instrument?

You are responsible for bringing your own instrument and stand for all instrumental classes. Instruments can be purchased independently or rented. We recommend Plum Grove Music in Hebron for instrument rentals. Our instructors can provide guidance if you have questions.
